It seems to me that so many people are diagnosed with ADD that it really isn't as much a problem as it is a characteristic of the majority of people. I'm willing to hazard a guess that it isn't nearly as much of an issue in other countries... we just like to have a drug for everything here.

Yes, it is diagnosed in other countries. I feel that ADD is a direct effect of the use of medications by pregnant women. Valium was one that I would think could be a cause. Then there are the illegal drugs, any of which could be involved. Take a look at when this condition became prevalent. then you will agree with me. I think you will anyway. 50s, became noticed, 60s, the rate went higher, 70, 80, 90s, continued to rise. Think about it.

I've traveled around the world and people are the same everywhere.
there are the high-strung and the low-slow personalities.
USA isn't different but we do like to have specialized physicians to handle specialized mental disorders.
We are the specialized specialists that like to charge a fortune to give you a diagnosis that is frivolous & not necessary at all.
Even garbage collectors have specialized names in the USA , doesn't make it necessary , just makes it dumb and dumber.
