Thats a good question. Although I wouldn't expect drapes, I would expect atleast some cheap plastic blinds or roller shades.

I would go to Home Depot and see what it would cost for their plastic blinds. Speak with the landlord about this and see if he will deduct it off your rent, since when you move out you'll leave the blinds there for the next tennant.

If he doesn't want to pay for it, there is nouthing you can do if its not in your lease. At this point, just keep your receipt and take them with you when you move out.

If he doesn't want to pay for them, then I would not leave them there, but you got to have the receipt so if he takes you to court you can prove you bought them because he might claim that they become a perminent fixture on the house when they are installed!

If you have not signed a rental agreement yet, im sure you can talk the land lord into paying for them if he wants to rent out the place!

Im thinking no more than $20 per window if you where to install roller shades, since I bought some big ones for my showroom at my store and they where 5 feet long and costs me $32.

Not sure on plastic blinds, but they are pretty cheap.

Generally rental houses should come with window coverings for the windows--at least where privacy is a real issue, such as the bedrooms and baths. Try negotiating with the landlord to provide these before you agree to a lease. If you don't succeed and truly want the property, investigate buying blinds or shades yourself. There are very affordable vinyl mini blinds or slightly more expensive wood blinds readily available in cut-to-size measurements from big box stores, such as Home Depot and Lowe's.

I've seen many rental properties without window coverings. I think that the landlords who include window coverings just want to prevent damage by people trying to hang their own curtains or blinds.
If you're concerned with the cost involved ask the landlord if they are willing to install blinds. For standard sized windows you can pick them up at WalMart for under $5.00 each. They're a bit cheaper than buying curtains.
Take care.

yes it is normal. my sister has rented 3 houses and all 3 did not have curtains. some windows had blinds covering them though. it all depends on the renter.

Yes, that is pretty normal. You can get minib-blinds fairly cheap.
