Please tell me why you think god exists. Because other than being brainwashed by your parents to believe in god as a child, considering world logic, why? Don't give me the crap about "who created the world", because that cannot be found out by humans so you can't say it was necessarily god because you think so. Also, don't tell me that religion is what causes good and evil. There are plenty of aetheists around the world who have natural morals and such. Humans are dominant over everything else, there is nothing that can affect the Earth except for us.

Grab them when they're too young to think for themselves. Brainwash them into thinking there's a magic being in the sky, and threaten them (just a reminder that we're talking about potentially terrified young children here) with being tortured in a fiery hell for eternity if they even dare to question what they are being taught. Yeah, sounds like a good solid foundation for a belief system to me. And yet, the smart people are ALL Atheists. Go figure.

Why do you group all religious people together? Why are you so angry? What have we ever done to you?

I was not brainwashed into believing in G-d as a child, my parents were at first religious but when I was very young didn't have a religion anymore because half my mothers side of the family died of cancer when I was in the 2nd grade: we never went to services or anything and didn't observe. I became observant on my own and had no religious guidance whatsoever. I'm Jewish and in fact went to a Catholic school for eight years because it was my grandmother's wish that I went to a private school; my mother didn't care that I wasn't Catholic.

I found my religion on my own and I believe in G-d because it gives me strength to believe in something higher than myself. Also, there are some places where science ends and the unexplained begins: a belief in a divine power closes those gaps for me. Take memories, for example. You can't hold a memory or see it even with an ultra finely tuned microscope, but we know they're there. I believe that if we truly were made just from pure science and logic we wouldn't be as complex creatures as we are today: we have memories that can span years. Certain smells can subconsciously trigger good memories or happy memories. Small things like that. Also I believe in G-d because it brings me peace. It feels right with me and my soul. If you don't believe in G-d, that's okay. I still believe in evolution, you know, it's not like I'm blind to logic or anything. I simply believe that not everything in the world can be explained by logic. If you don't believe in G-d that's perfectly fine, there's nothing wrong with that. All that matters is you are a good person. But I don't see why you are so angry at all religious people when maybe it's just a certain group or something of that nature that is always being so terrible to atheists. Even so, why follow their hypocritical example? Peace.

this is a really good question,I,m afraid its a trick question though. your mind is already set as to the answer. you know i cant convince you that God exists ,just like you cant convince me he doesn't.He is as real to me as you are more so really because Ive known him longer.YOU'RE RIGHT i was brainwashed as a child with a religion and it turned me off to God for many years in which i ran my own life according to (world logic) better known as humanism.there was no satisfaction in this, only the emptiness that comes with a life of self seeking and gratification.I became willing to seek the truth. you cant do this if your mind is closed because a relationship with God is an intimate experience, and you have to put time and effort into it.He says (Draw nigh to me and i will draw nigh unto you),I dare you. to make contact, say 2 x a day for a year, say to him i really want to know if you exist, i don't believe you do but i need the truth.its not as though im asking you to join a church.what can it hurt. if at the end of the year you don't hear from him then you re vindicated that you've been right all along. like i said i cant convince you .but he can.------.><>

I am almost....reluctant to really reply. I feel that it will go in one ear and out the other, but I will answer anyway.

I have proof of a higher being that is sufficient for me. God has shown himself to me on a spiritual level, which is why I don't try to push my beliefs onto people. Its personal, and I like it that way.

And I am really in a position right now where I am seeking proof of other gods, but I don't feel the need to get into all of that.

I am not a monotheist, but I believe there is a god or gods because of the many things I've learned in the last 5 years. I've studied astronomy, zoology, history, mythology, religion, economics, current events and where I believe the world is headed. I came to the conclusion that there are too many crazy things going on for there to NOT be a god or gods.

Oh, and also because he or they revelead themselves to me as well. It was only after I learned many things that this happened. I nearly went nuts the experience was so crazy.

*I am not a monotheist but I do believe in Deity, we just do not know what or who that Deity is. I think it is one creator who relates to us in the many forms of Gods and Goddesses, but i am aware that religion is just our attempt as humans to try and explain that which has no explanation. I have felt and experienced the God and Goddess in my life and i honor these deities.

I understand that it is nonsense and foolishness to the atheist to believe, and that is their right, I respect their belief that there is no God. "

Blessed Be!

you so lightly take the 'who created the world' argument, which in fact is deeper than you can understand. Just because you choose not to think about the universe and it's origin, doesn't mean it's a silly notion.

I'm with Dan. This question is getting old.
I love how they list the "don't tell me this and that" and I'm supposed to believe you want a serious answer. In the words of Capt Jack Sparrow "you need a girl mate!"

Well, if you consider that the ancient Jews decided that there is only one true god and it was Yahweh--and god is male--you would realize that it was a political move to take control of Canaan. And by accident of history, this idea stuck.
