Battle of the Bulge? Gettysburg?
The Battle of the Bulge was the largest land battle the US Army has ever participated in, but not nearly the largest ever.
However, the largest battle ever was that of Stalingrad. Kursk was also quite large and relatively short. Berlin was a huge battle, as was Bagration, Leningrad and Kiev. All on the Eastern Front of WW2.
Stalingrad was probably the largest, and without a doubt the most bloody.

To me the largest battle of all time would be the Battle of Gettysburg. But, there was this battle that involved Spartans and they only had 200 against 10000 and the spartans fought to the last man and won. That may have been the most gutsy battle of all time.

The Somme was pretty large in terms of casualties but i would agree with Stalingrad and Kursk. Also the battle of britain was quite .long and fought in the air.Historians range its length between 3 and 14 months depending how you look at it.

The seige of Stalingrad wasn't a single battle.. it was months of seige warfare. For the sheer number of troops going at each other at one time.. it's the battle of Kursk.
