I've had my ears pierced for around 7 years and my left ear has had a kind of big bump nearly everytime I put on earrings. I take them out for a few days and the bump's still there. However, when I sometimes take it out there's yellowish discharge, so I can squeeze it out and it returns back to normal size but that hasn't happened in some time. It's about 2 cm from the front of my earlobe to the back, with the bump. How do I get rid of it? Help!

Its not really an infection but more like an allergic reaction...it could be the earring itself...try hypo-allergic earings...(Claires...$9.99)...and as long as the discharge isnt green or mucus like...your fine as long as you clean them with alcohol. Don't squeeze! If it becomes unbearable I insist that you go to the doctor or else you can get discoloration around the lobe...

It sounds like a nickel allergy. Keep it clean with alcohol at least twice a day. Make sure you only wear nickel free earrings or hypo-allergenic (which means it is nickel free). Now that you have nickel allergy, you will probably notice you also break out with other metals, like necklaces and also your watch and possibly snaps, like on a pair of jeans. You can buy nickel free jewelry. They are more popular all the time, you just have to look for them.

I have the same thing with my ear, yet I stopped wearing earrings a while ago. I find it started getting better when I sprayed it with the ear spray they give you when you get your ears pierced

keep earrings out for about a week use peroxide on your ears 4 times a day, then before you put earrings in soak the earring in peroxide
