First, are you sure you have tendinitis and not carpal tunnel syndrome or arthritis? They can all cause pain and stiffness in the wrist. If you are not sure, then you might want to visit a doc. Carpal tunnel syndrome affects the wrist, hand, and some fingers, with the pain focused below the wrist. Tendinitis pain is the easiest to verify - it should hurt when you push nearly anywhere on the affected tendon. Arthritis pain occurs only in the joints, but the pain can radiate all over the arm and hand if it really gets aggravated.
Both of the previous posts are good things to do for tendinitis. You also need to stop doing whatever it is that caused the tendinitis in the first place. If you get a wrist brace, also wear it at night to see if it helps. If you don't want to visit the doc, then you should use ice at lest once a day and also take an anti-inflammatory such as ibuprofen or Alleve, 24/7 until the inflammation stops, unless you are not seeing any progress after a couple weeks. Alleve is the better choice of drug for most people because it lasts for 8-12 hours, and it doesn't usually cause stomach problems like ibuprofen.

I wear those wrist braces for carpal tunnel problems..it takes a long time...and you need to be very consistant...wearing them all the time except when getting your hands wet...and driving..I found them distracting when driving...I would get relief after a week 10 days two weeks or so...

Ask Dr for a shot of cortisone or steroids in tablets. It worked for my elbow.
