I am 9 months pregnant, and apparently have issues with my sciatic nerve. It's killing me, hurts to roll over in bed, sometimes I will get dead leg... I guess my question is, any suggestions on how to relieve the pain.. So far I have tried massage, stretching, heat, but still no luck... Any ideas would be helpful.

I am 36 weeks pregnant and I have had the same problem for the last two weeks. The two things that have helped me include visiting my Chiropractor (who also does massage therapy) and prenatal yoga. Both also gave me exercises to practice that help sciatic nerve pain and that has also helped a lot. Good luck!

Maybe after the baby is born, which is soon, the pain will go away. Tell the Dr, and find out the actual cause. I have had back problems too. I found the Hatha Yoga is great. It massages the spine and is good for your back. Yoga and good nutrition is beneficial, as well as staying as slim as possible. After the baby is born, yoga will help. You may also find relief from a Chiropractor. Good luck.

Your pain is probably coming from being nine months pregnant.

I wouldn't do anything until after the baby is born. It could go away by itself. With sciatica you want to use cold because you want the nerve swelling to go down. Use an ice pack on the area that hurts the worst. The rule is 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off. As soon as the nerve swelling goes down the pain will go away.

Your pain is likely coming from your back. I would guess your L4/L5 disk.

I have numbness in my right two toes, the bottom of my foot, back of the heel and calf. This is caused by a bulging disk that is compressing the S1 nerve. This was diagnosed with an MRI.

I know someone else who has pain in the butt, hip, knee and ankle. This was caused by a herniated disk at L4/L5.

The good news is that both of us have managed without surgery and through exercises.

Attached is some information about back pain and nerve mappings to help you trace the affected nerve. The best way to diagnose this is to have an MRI. A drug that I would recommend you talk to your doctor about is prednasone. But better check about taking this with pregnancy. We both took a 10 day supply and it seemed to help the disk swelling.

Good luck and hope everything works out.
