I think my sore throat is on its way out, but just in case, is there any quick fix? My audition is in the evening, and it involves testing my range so I don't want to my range to be affected by a sore throat.

Is there any tea, cough drop, or anything else you would recommend?

Thank you!

I've sung in bands for over 20 years and have found gargling helps. A copal of tea spoons of salt in a cup of warm water every hour for 3 or 4 times toughens you up. Then a couple sprays of Chloraseptic, the green sour throat spray you can get over the counter will numb it enough to get through your audition. I've used that spray at the end of a gig. It's gotten me through the night. It's menthol and has given me good relief. Good luck, hope it goes well.

Take vitamin C asap. It speeds healing. People here are going to recommend a barrage of teas and herbal remedies but in the end they are mostly placebo and not proven in double-blinded clinical trials. Lozenges contain mentol which provides only a theraputic cooling effect and not a turnaround of symptoms. If you think you have a throat infection perhaps you should gargle on salt water a few times as this will kill localized bacteria.

First garggle with a solution of warm water and salt. I'd use a half cup of water and 2 tbsp of salt. Garggle till the water is all gone then have a cup of tea with 1-2 tbsp of honey. Good luck to you. Also sucrets numbs the throat but I'm not sure if it wouldn't change your pitch. You could try it early in the day just to make sure if the natural remedies don't work.

There's a "therapy" spray for singers / actors, etc.
It's called "Entertainer's Secret" - works wonders for dry, sore throat, and hoarse voice... any type of throat relief. I've used it before performances before, and it's quite good. It's all natural ingredients... as natural as ingredients tend to be. Good luck on your audition.

Look for a tea called "Throat Coat." I'm a public speaker, and use it quite frequently for sore throats.
