Why not tell him how hurtful that is to you?
"Hi, you gorgeous, forgetful guy,
As you know, My Birthday is coming up soon, on January 30th ... February 4th ...
You are so very special to me, and I am so much looking forward to receiving your card on Jan 28th. Your card on my birthday means more to me than any silly mistakes or misunderstandings we could ever have through life together. It reminds me that we will always be there for each other, no matter what. That even though life will sometimes kick us in the teeth, or get us down, you will always remind me once a year, only for me, that there is more to life than the small stuff. Love you."
He can read, can't he?
If not, serve him a meal, spit in it, and tell him upfront that every year, once a year, you will do this again.
"Now that I have your attention, you've ignored my birthday three years in a row, you lout. That hurt me. I'm going to spend my life with someone who can mark a special occasion once a year without any reminders from another woman."

That's a tough one. My boyfriend forgets that type of stuff too. He never got me a gift or anything for my birthday too. I wanted to go out for dinner and we went out with his friend. They told me to get what I wanted and I ended up having to pay for the whole bill. OOPS! Yeah, he felt bad he forgot his wallet. I just joke about it everytime something comes up, I joke about how I know I won't be getting anything. I tell him that I don't care, but secretly I do want him to at least scrible happy birthday on a piece of paper and some words of how he loves me(he can't even do that). As long as he is there, I guess that is all that matters. Just tell him that.

Oh come off it. He is never going to remember. Some men are like that. You should forget his. NEVER bring it up again. Because, if you marry him, 15 years down the road, this is what you will divorce him over.

Remind him the day before. Simply tell him the next day is your birthday. Invite him to dinner, if you don't expect gifts.

Just tell him in advance, no need to hide it. He'll appreciate it, knowing this time he wont look like a jerk.
