My office assistant (I work in a psychologist office) tends to smell like poop, and I can't stand it! I don't know what to say about it because you can't really bring that kind of thing up. I've tried giving her gum and mints, but she won't take them. I think it's her breath; I have reason to believe she has an eating disorder. She somehow manages to fill the whole office with a mild sense of poop. One day, she even turned to me and said she had a bad taste in her mouth. What do I do?

Spray her with Lysol. That will get the message across

sit her down and talk to her; first give her a compliment...say something about her work ethic, or whatever she does well for you...then say, there is another matter we need to discuss....its come to my attention ( hey even if its just you---other people must notice) (this makes it sound more like its from someone else)... that you may have been ignoring your oral health. Its very important to take care of our teeth and using mouthwash can be very beneficial...

okay now another really sly way...is to get up real close to her and take a wiff knowingly and say very softly, "You know, you need a breath mint"...and say no more...don't look her in the eye...she will get the picture immediately.

my dad once told me about a guy who had horrible breath, he told me what he said, and i often think of it..when i or my hubby have bad breath.........

my dad reached into his pocket with a breath mint and said,,,, Perhaps your breath could use a mint.

the man took it. and never had yucky smell again

Maybe she should see a doctor, she may have an intestinal disorder that may cause bad breath and bad tastes in her mouth.

I think you need to talk to her about it, otherwise it will affect your work and eventually hers also, because you will be finding ways to avoid her, etc. Be gentle and polite but explain to her that you are uncomfortable with the odor. Maybe say you appreciate her hard work and you are concerned about her health. Good luck, it's a very delicate situation.

If you don't have customers that use the bathroom and its a small enough office, try putting some mouthwash and dixie cups into the bathroom.

I would leave her an anonymous note, telling her what I think her problem might be.
