when it is not working for you any longer.
Relationships that do not make you comfortable or that cause you stress.
When a relationship is working well both individuals are gaining by the value of the contact. Each person, individually, is growing in the direction they are desiring. Independent of the other, each person seeks their desire in life and successfully reaches it in increments. Life is continuous, so are our goals and desires for ourselves. In a relationship, each one seeks these for their self and supports the other to do what will make them happy in this life. To love another, you want them to be happy and encourage them in what they seek for them self. It is a give and take but should not be a sacrifice. This is a steady and balanced flow in a working relationship.
When the flow is no longer balanced and supportive of each person then counseling needs to be introduced.

When you both want different things. Or when one of you loses interest and the other is unhappy. It's different for everyone. Instead of asking us, look in side yourself, to find out what you really, truely want.
