China requires every one to have a visa, but its easy. Fill out a form, get a couple of photos and go to your nearest Chinese embassy with your RETURN ticket. Takes a few days for a normal visa which will last you 90 days. Once in China you can fairly easily get an extension through the local police for another 30 days, then to stay longer you have to have a good reason, like a job offer, then you have to apply for a different type of visa and this can take a long time within China, they are slow and not very efficient, or honest. In the UK if you go with a ticket for a flight that day, you can get a visa in a few hours, but it costs more.

It most certainly does require a visa! Go to www.china-embassy.org, the official website for the People's Republic. You will get all the information you need, they do not accept visa applications by mail, so if you live near an embassy or consulate you can go there to apply, or if you have a travel agent, they should be able to get the visa for you. If you are going through Hong Kong, China Travel Service does have offices there, where you can obtain a visa into the mainland. Allow yourself a day or two for the visa, the cost of the visa there depends on how quickly you want it. Good luck!

China isn't stamp on get admission to aside from Russians at Koreans at particular border factors purely. So once you're a US citizen you will want a visa formerly hand. The CCP value Yanks notably greater for a chinese language visa than actually every person else. A uk passport IIRC became $fifty 5 in US$ expenses no older than 2006. Yanks get costs approximately $one hundred ten or $a hundred and fifty I forget. they have a tendency to be strict on the visa circumstances besides. So whilst another u . s . a . will say 4 weeks or 3 months from the date of get admission to. The chinese language visa will supply from X date to Y date. in many circumstances your flight value ticket out and in.

Most of the nationalities need a visa before you can travel to main land China. You'll need to have it done in your country at a Chinese consulate.
Hong-Kong is another story. You can go there without a visa. You'll be given one there as you arrive.

Most absolutely. They have opened up a lot to visitors in the recent years but it's not exactly "come and go as you please".
Just visit the closest chinese embassy in your area to apply.
