So I've spoken to the teacher, I've tried to talk to him.. he's only 4, and all I've gotten out of him, is about a little girl that could be picking on him. He doesnt want to talk about it though, I don't know what to do for him, he throws a fit all the time that he doesnt want to go to school, when just a few weeks ago he was loving school. It is tearing my heart apart, to think that someone could be picking on my little boy. What do you think I could do about this? how can I get him to speak to me?

You did the 2 most important things: talk to the teacher and talk to him.

You may have already told him this, but I would give him some scenarios like "What would you do if you were at the park and someone pushed you off the slide", then talk about good ways for him to respond. Make it clear that he should stick up for himself, using non-violent means. If you make these scenarios general, not so specific to school, I think it would be better.

Also, from personal experience I can tell you that I would not take him out of school. It breaks a mom's heart, but I always try to tell myself that these situations are good learning experiences. And they are if they help your kid be more assertive in these situations in the future.

I think you are on the right track. If someone is giving him a hard time, you should try to look into it more. His teacher should be observant enough to catch something like that. Try to find out who is troubling him and have the teacher seperate the two if possible. You don't want your child to hate school at such an early age. As he gets older you can also teach him ways to avoid such conflicts, but at 4 it is a hard thing to deal with.

This happened to me with my son not too long ago. My son is five and one day to another he tells me he doesn't want to go to school. Everyday it was a fight to get him to go to school. He even found out on his own that if you tell the teacher that you are not feeling well they will call your parents and you go home. Well I investigated it and it turned out that someone was making fun of him and doing bad things to him. I asked the teacher what was she doing about it and all she told me was " there kids." I made a complaint about the teacher. I also spoke to the parents of the girls making fun of my son, and it all stopped. He started to make new friends and he hasn't pulled the I don't want to go to school routine.Just look into it further the teacher has to have an idea why he refuses to go to school. You can get him to speak to you by also let him know its ok to tell you whats going on in class. Tell him that your his mom and you love him very much and that you want to help him.
Good luck to you and your son.

Have a conference with his teacher. Rule out the possibility that the he/she is not the problem first. Then start with the most obvious and work towards the least obvious.
