first things first...if you don't want to piss her off too much, tell her your plans before joining and she how she reacts. If you do it behind her back she will not be a happy camper. It will also show if she is really committed to the relationship. If joining is your dream, she should realize how happy it would make you and deal with it. Yes, it will probably break her heart to be away from you, but if it's meant to be...you guys will be able to work through it.

It all depends on what YOU want to do. But it does effect yourself if you join and she is mad and you go off and can't keep your mind off her, and get kicked out or something. Join some type of reserves or something, but every military job mostly requires you to go do boot camp and travel, so take it out with your girlfriend and family. If she doesn't like the idea, tell her all the good things that you get out of it. Plus, they pay you a lot of money and can get you through college.

You need to follow your dreams and do what makes you the most happy. Let's think about this...if a person that loves and cares about you, if it is meant to be, they will stick by and support your decision, even if it makes them personally sad, because their love will be stronger than any distance or choice of career you pursue, as in the end, there is love.
All the best, Mandee

I think that your life can be best valued here then over there. Aside from your girlfriend, think of what you could loose or suffer from being there. I have family that are doing tours over seas and it is hard to watch the news and hope that my family members are safe. But in the end follow your heart.

Has she always known about your wish or is a recent thing since you got together? That's the issue mate; if she feels this strongly when she knew nothing of you going anywhere then it's wrong. If it's a recent development then you need to consider her thoughts if she is the one!

personally, i dont think its worth it joining the army, the goal of it, the war, the murder of many, using your hands, to protect america, your country is over rated, you can serve your country in many ways, and it does not need to include killing other human beings, and denying them freedom and life to be with their family, just because america needs oil.
being in the us army for me is not a really great thing to do, its not worth it. not worth it at all, i value life

You should follow your heart. If the relationship is a strong one, it can last. It is good for people to be apart sometimes and grow within themselves.
