Why would my ex boyfriend contact me when he is dating someone else. We broke up six months ago and stayed in touch via msn for three months. Then we had a huge fight. we haven't talked for three months and he just sent me an email saying "I haven't heard from you. how was your christmas and new years?"
When we broke up he said he wanted to stay friends bc he really cares about me and then after the fight i thought that friendship was over.
Do you think he is seeing if his new girlfriend is better or he is interested in having something with me?

He wants to be friends. In the end, he might end up with someone else, but he still cares enough to be friends.

Only he really knows. He could actually miss you. He could have been think about the great sex you two had and misses that. Things might not be going that great in his current relationship. Maybe he thinks he can be dating two women at once. Maybe he's getting back at his current for contacting her old flame. I could really be missing a lot of other options here, you should probably ask him.

I think that he still cares about you and really wants to still be friends. BUT if you can't handle that or don't want to you shoud let him know because otherwise he'll still let you know how he feels and stuff like that. He'll always want to talk to you so if you keep giving him that chance no matter what, he'll take you up on that. So tell him how you feels or you can ask him yourself

I believe this guy still cares about you and you did something for him his new woman is not, wether emotionally or physically. That is why he wants to stay in contact with you for some reason he can't forget you.

It's a guy thing. Our egos are huge. He wants to know how much you have suffered since the break up and if you want him back. Not because he wants you - he just wants the ego boost.
Don't answer back. Don't feed his need. Move on.

normally, guys that have just been broken up with just cant get over the girl they were once with, they want to be as close as they can to them, even if she is there ex.....he probably just wants to keep in touch with you, he doesnt want for it to be over, but it is, and theres no way for him to deny it, so he wants to still see you, talk to you, and if thats making you mad then tell him its over, deal with it, now go away....

I think he is just being friendly. He just want to be friends with you, that's all. He is probably happy with his new gf, but just wants you as a friend.
