A lot of the reason anyone cheats is due to a lack of self esteem.
If a person feels inferior or non attractive they are susceptible to an others flirting mostly because it validates them. It can make them feel attractive. Usually, it may start out innocent then escalate into something more.
The relationship may not be totally unworkable if this is identified and healed.
Other reasons may be a sexual drive that is stimulated by variety of sexual partners. Sex can become drab with the same person and sex is always stimulating when it is fresh or new. Also, If it was modeled in the home by the same sex parent it can be a choice of response for some.

It is easy for a man to think that the grass is greener on the other side of the street.
When a man (or any person cheats) they get to see the best side of a person for the 4 or so hours that they are together.
They never argue.
HE never sees her when she wakes up in the morning without make up or when she has had a bad day.
Since they dont see each other that often, they tend to make every second count.
The new girl never sees his dirty draws or has to answer the phone when the bill collector is calling so she thinks he is perfect.
THe sneaking around probably adds some excitement to the mix too.
THe new chick works harders because some women like to 'win' so she might think of it as a game.
When reality kicks in (she sees his skidmarked undies and finds his credit report) he usually comes begging back!

They are not 100% satisfied in their relationship. Might be sexually, emotionally, or mentally

No one that is 100% satisfied in a relationship cheats they do not wake up and say "I am so happy in my relationship that I am going to cheat" Something is lacking regardless of if he'll admit it or not. And no good women are not weak dont let anyone tell you that.

i talked to a guy friend who does the thing you are saying. his reason is that men don't get contented easily, unlike women. they seek love or attention to fill their uncontentment. but i think that is not enough of a reason to cheat the women you love or even other women.
