you are probably talking about something like a clock radio and this devices invert the 120v into low voltage with a small transformer the 9v dc is only there for back-up refere to the device and read it's power inputs vs. it's consumption= find this trnsformer using a multi-meter then add a fuse maybe a 5A

An incandescent bulb is just like a resistor. The more voltage you put across it, the more power it will consume and the brighter it will shine. With 120 Volts DC, it will shine just about like it would with 120Volts AC, but I wouldn't recommend messing around with that type of power source. With a 6V battery, it will probably be very dim. You could put multiple batteries in series to get a higher voltage, but please don't go above 30 or 40 volts without someone knowledgable helping. You can also use a bulb rated for a high power (like 150 Watts) to get more light. It won't shine as bright as it normally would, but it will still shine. I'd recommend looking for a light that is intended to work with 6 or 12 volts, maybe a flashlight bulb from one of those flashlights that takes a big square 6 Volt battery.

Don't do it until you finish your electronic engineering course. Don't mess with stuff that can kill you. Use a wall wart power supply to drive the low voltage device.
If you really want to hide a spy camera inside a radio it may be possible but you need somebody who understands the basics of electronics and can operate a soldering iron.

Simplest way I can think of to explain here is to say go get your clock radio with the battery back up,and look at the electric schematic for it that's usually on the radio somewhere, and copy the wiring diagram from that ,alter where necessary.

Use a step down transformer. It is done all the time. Your cell phone has a charger that steps down to 5 or 6 v for instance
