Very similar...although perhaps a muscular Sunday School version of Moses might also apply. An extraordinary birth, a child from the skies with extraordinary powers, a strong sense of right and wrong with power to back it up, facing off against a villain who he COULD snuff in an instant but doesn't because he's so much better than the villain...

Of course, Superman doesn't demand worship or threaten people with damnation if they don't. He also doesn't arbitrarily take life unless there is no other possible choice...and even then with great reluctance. Nor does he have a group of people he favors above others...he comes to anyone who needs rescuing even if they hate him, as opposed to Jesus whose attention comes with strings attatched.

Oh, and Superman doesn't destroy the world in the end, either.

In addition, neither exists in real life.

Hmmm....Superman died and came back - Jesus died and was resurrected to heaven - eventually to come back and deal with all the "evil doers".
I have to say, Jesus has no side effects to cryptonite and he could/can heal wounds and raise people from the dead. I think that makes him a little cooler - at least in my eyes. I think Jesus story is a little more wide-spread - a lot more translations of the Bible than any other book or comic-strip. That and Jesus isn't a fictional character. I can see some of the similarities, though....

The only thing I noticed was in the movie that just came out to DVD, the little speech that Superman was given by his dad (when Superman was floating in the atmosphere) sounded pretty symbolic of Jesus. My friends and I all said "Yeah Boy!" at the same time. Pretty embarrassing.

Tommy. Forgive me but, I think that comparing Jesus' story to Superman's is a bit out of order. Your question is something I would have expected from Iran's President.

All the stories, of all the superheroes have a semblance to the life of Jesus Christ:

The ultimate power of good wins over the ultimate power of evil.

Funny.
People prefer to believe in Batman more than they do in Jesus.

Not even close.
Supanman:
His dad is dead
He wears tights and not robes
He flys over water rather than walks on it.
His girl friend is prettier.
He has a secret identity
His dog flies
He gives super wedgies that makes people's eyes bug out
He is literate and can write.

I don't recall stories of Jesus flying, leaping tall buildings in a single bound, etc.
