You can file a federal tax return as long as you have at least $1 of income whether it is earned or unearned. You may not HAVE to file, but you can still file anyway. You may not get a refund or you may not owe, but you can still file anyway.

In fact, if you are not somebody elses dependent and you live with a young relative (your child, your brother, your sister, etc.) that you can claim as a dependent, you may be able to claim the Earned Income Tax Credit which will give you quite a nice refund.

If you don't have anyone to claim, you can still get the EITC, but you still can't be anyone's dependent and you must be between 25 and 64 inclusive.

There are other criteria...please read the instructions carefully.

Good luck!

Yes, you can file although you're probably not required to.

If you had federal income taxes taken out, then you should get that back. If the dependants are your qualifying children, you might also be eligible for some additional money as Earned Income Credit.

You can file if you made $1.
As long as taxes were taken out of the $4000. In fact if taxes were taken out you should get all of that money back.
If you're owed money technically you don't have to file to get it back but why woldn't you? You only have to use a 1040EZ and there's only like 10 questions on there. Done! and Done! Get your money...it's yours.

Without know specificly your dependant info I can only speculate. Assuming they're children you may qualify for tax credits, which allow you to get money refunded that you never actaully paid in. So it is quite likely to your advantage to file.

Yes you can file even if you income was 0.

Its the law, you have to file no matter how much you made.
There needs to be more detail before we can provide an answer of if you will get anything back.
