If, according to the Bible, that "man is a reflection of God and everything that is good" (I think its either in Genesis or somewhere in the New Testament, i don't remember), then why is humanity is so capable of violence, war, cruelty, hatred and all that jazz... does this imply that you know, God is.....no offense, serious answers only.

Ok, some people are arguing that its basically because of "free will"....but if humanity is given "free will" by God the creator, surely God himself has "free will" to do as he please...please answer based on this suggestion...

The evil part of man is his vanity and desire for foolish material
things, when man puts away these childish toys the spirit takes over and the man is resurrected in peace and harmony

You quoted from the bible, but that is not the original bible which was revealed to Jesus. It has been tampered with and changed over the years, so we cannot be sure that the verse you quoted is in its true form.
What Muslims believe is that God created man, with the ablility to distinguish between right and wrong and choose his own actions. God allows them to carry out this action by granting them the power to do so, but the choice in the first place is up to man. Therefore, man cannot say God forced him to do anything, because all of his actions is of his own free will. Haven't you heard of God's anger when people resort to violence, cruelty, etc.?

It is all because of sin - simple and plain. When man disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden, that is when sin came about in this world. Violence, hatred, murder, cruelty, etc. all came from what happened in the Garden of Eden. God is NOT responsible for what man has done. God gave man a free will to do with what he/she wants to do. In the Garden of Eden, man chose to disobey God. Thus, God cursed the earth and that is the reason for plagues, diseases, pain, etc. Man is capable of all those things because of sin.

God is a reflection of everything good in man, in that God was created by man in his image. Like all human portraits, the artists have had a few liberties with reality, and improved somewhat the reflection.

Man was in fact created perfect. However man choose to disobey and taint the perfect world that was created. They reason we were given the choice is because without a choice we are unable to choose to obey. As time goes by people are more and more into what they wish to do. If every person stopped sinning and obeyed God, we would all be in peace and we would all be happy.

In my opinion, if you're religous, "God" encompasses many, many religions. Christian, Buddhist, Mormon, Hindu, etc.

They may refer to God in a different name, but it's the same.

Violenece, war, cruelty, hatred is against everything that 'god' encourages. That's something that everyone needs to understand.

Read a little about Buddhism...I spent a month in Burma and had the chance to meet with many of them.....very, very peaceful people.

I think a better way to put it is that man has the ability to be a reflection of God. We have the ability to strive for perfection and justice and love. The fact that we are able to own or disown these abilities shows freedom of choice - I think it all goes back to the Garden of Eden. Do you want to follow God, or take his place? Which has shown to be a better choice for mankind so far?

the Creator, blessed be His Name, is God of war. there was even a lost book in the bible called the Book of the Wars of the Lord. He is a God of justice, but also of mercy that He reserves punishment at the end of Time. He allows sinners to repent but if they dont, theyre damned!

Man was MADE in the reflection of God, but no one's making us stay that way. Which is pretty obvious, just look at the world. Imagine how much better it would be if people stayed good.

Let’s see. God creates all living things – humans of course being his special favorites. He then proceeds to make impossible demands (killing their own children) of them. He leads his ‘chosen people’ in circles in the desert for 40 years while he systematically kills 2-2.5 of the 2.5-3 million of them.

He floods the whole damn planet, drowning all but 2 each of all his creation. He smites them with all sorts and manner of disease, plague, pestilence, and various other tortures guaranteed to inflict as much suffering as possible.

This is no loving anything. This is a sadistic, humanity-hating, rape-torture-kill, brutally judgmental SOB. And those who worship him are a prefect reflection of him – they are, indeed, made in his image.
