no uunless it blocks the lic. plate . the gate down helps with air flow so better milage ..

No, but it is stupid. For one thing, if you get rear ended, there is more damage to the vehicle behind, and your tailgate is wrecked. For another, the truck is designed to be driven with the tailgate up. You will get worse mileage with it down.
