My son is 15 months old....he's recently started to wake up with his diaper dry at least 50% of the time. I've been told by some people that this is a sign of them being ready for potty training. Is this too soon? Or should I start now?

I started mine at 2 years old and had them both trained in 2 weeks time.

My son is 2 yrs. and 7 months old and I tried to start potty training 2 days shy of his 2nd b-day. I guess I was a bit too eager because we are still trying to potty train! He also had dry diapers in the morning which I thought was a sign of readiness. It doesn't help that my husband and I work full time so we're not there to fully train him all day. He tells me after the fact but I can never get him to go in the potty. He only does it in the morning when he first wakes up which is a step at least. You can try in the morning and see how he does and gradually work your way to it. They're all different, maybe he'll start going to the potty consistently. Good luck...

Honestly I think it depends on you and your child most kids start at around 2. If I remember correctly My niece now 3 started potty training the week she turned 2 and my friend the mother really didnt think she was ready but she just asked her mom for big girl pants and my friend had them already cause she was going to try to start potty training she put them on her daughter one day and bom she was potty trained yet she has a daughter who is about 2 in half and will be 3 in June and is just kind of starting to want to. Hope this helps and makes you at ease!

I guess it's all in how you handle it. My 3 children were all around 3 years old when they were potty trained. I have heard of people potty training at the age of 1.5 to 2 years old. Maybe get him a little potty and put it in the bathroom near the big toilet and let him go in with your husband so he can see what it's used for. Make it fun. You'll do fine.

My son started potty training at 2, but didn't "get it" until he was 3. My daughter got it at 18 months. According to my grandmother (15 kids) you can start training whenever you want, but most girls will be trained at 2 and most boys at three.

There is no perfect age. From personal experience, I've learned u cannot be lazy with it once you start. Stay with it and don't be a grouch!! and no matter what someone else tells you, having them sit on the potty for several minutes is not torcher. 15 months sounds good!

My daughter was about that age when she started potty training herself and telling me when she was wet and when she had to go and I should have listened to her instead of everyone else telling me she was to young to be potty trained because when I decided she was ready she just flat out refused to train.

As his mom, if you feel he is ready go for it. Some kids train early. Some as my oldest daughter, are 3 yrs.+ before they train. Go with your gut.
