For a Canadian "Vimy Ridge" was not only the turning point in the war, but was when we ceased to be a colony and became a nation in our own right.

There was no battle turning point in WWI if you ask me. The entrance of the USA into the war was the turning point. The Germans were being successful with their final offensive, the Spring Offensive of 1918. It culminated (ran outta gas) and the Allies launched the Second Battle of the Marne and overturned the German Gains of the Spring. This was the first major campaign the USA participated in. So I'd say the Second Marne if pressed for a "battle".

The Germans would have had the war... had it not been for their weak allies and their last great offensive The battle of the Ardennes?
