Based on the information you have provided--single, no dependents, and assuming you are your sole support and no one else can claim you as a dependent, you will be getting back money from the Feds. I'm not a licensed preparer, so I'm not going to give you specific figures. You can do your taxes through a provider listed on the IRS website for free since your adjusted gross income is less than $54,000. This is the link http://www.irs.gov/app/freeFile/jsp/index.jsp?ck

The state is a different story; have no idea what your tax liability will be. If you choose one of the providers on the IRS website, there will be a small fee for the state return. You could also check the website for your state's department of revenue to see if there are any links to free tax preparation sites.

You should get close to $1000 back from the feds, assuming you are not someone's dependent.

State laws vary so much that there's no way to give you an answer without knowing what state you're in.

go to turbotax.com enter your info and it'll tell you exactly what u get back. you don't have to efile just to find out what u get back throught them. We have used turbotax for a few years now and never had a problem. We have used the deduction maximizer and it is really goood. check it out if anything. Plus the processing fee is under 100 bucks and if you need to they take it out of your return.
