In Illinois, if we take your license as bond we don't need a signature....Any other form of bond (I-Bond, bond card, or cash), we require a signature.

If he gave you a parking ticket, that is much better for you than a traffic ticket, so you should not fight him on this. He is not required to tell "how to better handle the situation". You are not supposed to enter an intersection (even with a green light) when traffic is moving slowly enough that you are going to have to stop in the intersection, because the light might turn red, and then you would be blocking the other street. You are supposed to wait (not in the intersection) until the cars ahead of you are moving, and then go (if the light is still green).

You don't have to sign the ticket for it to be valid. No one is there to sign a parking citation.

You will have to pay it. Unless you have hours to kill, it's cheaper and easier to mail the check. I've fought some. Even though I won, I waited an hour and a half for court. And then 2.5 more hours in line just to pay what little I did. The savings DIDN'T add up to my lost wages.

(Now I know better - about the nickel/dime tickets anyway.)

No. A signature is not required. The ticket has all of your info on it. It will stand up on court. Ever heard of photo-cop? Those are tickets sent in the mail. I'm pretty sure they don't have signatures on them. Quit whining and face your punishment like a man !

A signature on a citation is mearly acknowledgment of receipt. in my jurisdiction failure to sign was an arrestable offense. The ticket is still valid even without your signature.

Did he sign it?

Did he take something like Dl, bond card, or cash as bond?

As long as he signed it your compliance with the ticket is mandatory. Your signature is a notice to appear and not required. Failure to comply with the conditions of the ticket will put you at serious risk of losing your drivers privileges or worse.

Your signature is for a "promise to appear". It will not void the citation. What will happen, if you don't appear or pay the fine, is a friendly officer will show up at your door or place of employment and drag your sorry butt to court.

Different states vary,, and remember the citation is a legal document, and has to be "properly" filled out.

No, your signature is NOT to be on the ticket - only the officer's.
