Not anymore. I know some people that got in without one but that was about five years ago. The Navy is very over-manned right now and has been trying to down size, so in addition to booting people out for various reasons, they have also upped the requirements to join and lowered the recruiting quotas. I'm not really sure if you can still join with a GED anymore but you can contact your local recruiter and ask, it can't hurt.

The recruiters told me that you can't even join with a GED unless you have had college, I don't know how much college, but I would guess at least 2 years. Maybe 4 years.

I suggest that you contact a recruiter, certain jobs are being offered where these might be able to have a waiver issued BUT you do need a good command of the written and spoken English............or at least be able to use spell check........

I wish you can but I think you have to take some Cinda of test to prove that you are smart. You might want to go to the office near you and ask them what you can do.

Even if you have a GED, you will need to make a very high score on the ASVAB test to qualify.
