There are a lot of things that mainlanders take for granted that we do not have in Hawaii. In some ways, Hawaii is very behind--- but that can be a good thing, too!
We are looking into expanding public transportation, as our roads are growing very crowded due to so many people moving here. Honolulu county has excellent bus system--- but they are just in the past year coming to the outer islands.

The Mayor and Governor believes our bus system is more effective. I went in September (2006), and the Bus driver were so KOOL, and gave excellent directions. However the bus cost an $1.00 nowdays, but you can transfer and ride around the whole Island in 2-4 hours. I had a great vacation using the bus system...ENJOY!
