For federal taxes, if you are someone's dependent, then you must file if:
You are single, under 65, and your unearned income is over $850
You are single, over 64, and your unearned income is over $2,100
You are single, over 64, blind, and your unearned income is over $3,350
Married, under 65, and your unearned income is over $850
Married, over 64, and your unearned income is over $1,850
Married, over 64, blind, and your unearned income is over $2,850
If you can NOT be claimed as a dependent, then you only need to file a tax return if you are filing Married Filing Separately. Otherwise, you will definitely be below the filing requirements.
State tax requirements vary from state to state. Check with your state for more information.

I am not sure because I know if the income is under a certain amount than you do not have to report it. but i would check with your state. Some states and such have diffrent rules. but when in doubt call H&R BLOCK or JACKSON HEWITT or even try turbotax.com
