Now that is a loaded question. The hypothalamus is kinda of like a relay station in the brain and can control the endocrine system, which is the system of hormones that are released and regulated in the body.

The hypothalamus is a small structure that is located in your brain. It regulates the endocrine system by controlling the secretions of the pituitary gland or by producing some of the hormones that are secreted by the pituitary. These hormones affect the body or affect other glands in the body. Their overall affect is to maintain homeostasis.

The endocrine system acts with nervous system to coordinate the body's activities. The endocrine system uses chemical messengers called hormones that are transported by the circulatory system (blood). They act on target cells that may be anywhere in the body.
