My parents divorced. My father remarried. He married a woman with a daughter from a previous relationship, making her my step-sister. They had twin boys of their own, making them my half-brothers.
My father was in the process of divorcing wife #2 when he died last year.
My half-brothers are obviously always going to be my half-brothers because we have the same father. However, should I still regard my step-sister as a step-sister? She's not blood related and given her mother and my father were divorcing anyway, does that make her no longer a step-sister? Is she now just "my late father's second ex-wife's daughter?"

If you feel connected to your stepsister, then you may choose to regard her as such, but if not, then you might describe her as your 'late father's second ex-wife's daughter'. You'll likely have some sort of relationship with her, though, as you share half-brothers. Family is, in my opinion, a matter of choice and perspective and how you choose to see your family is your decision.

I don't know that this helped at all, but I'd like to extend my condolences.

the terrific concern could be to attend the funeral. Funerals are for the living - to remember, grieve, and be with acquaintances and family contributors of their time of choose. because of the gap, sending a dazzling floral association to the wake, a donation in lieu of plant life to the yank maximum cancers Society or Hospice (if this is been stated), and a sympathy card with a handwritten observe/short letter must be the very least. maybe you and your siblings might desire to all carpool so the 12 hours of driving might desire to be chop up up and then it is purely at some point with a pair of hours of rigidity time each and every. maybe your spouses might desire to stay abode with the toddlers while you attend or could your father be keen to take a seat for the grandchildren or is he attending besides?

Since the divorce was not final she is still your step-sister as your step-mother is now a widow.

That's a hard question. I guess it all boils down to the extent of the relationship between you two.

What's the difference what her title is? How do you feel about her? If you don't like her, you don't have to claim her. If she is like your best friend, then claim her as your sister.
