The Holy Spirit is NOT automatically in you. This is why Jesus said "Unless you eat of my body and drink of my blood, you have no life in you" Baptism is the beginning of the journey to him. It is the betrothal ceremony that marks you as his bride. The marriage is not consummated though until Holy Communion.

Christian water baptism is an outward symbol that the one being baptized has made a complete unreserved and unconditional dedication through Jesus Christ to do the will of Jehovah God. The scriptures also refer to Johns baptism, baptism with holy spirit and baptism with fire ,among others.

Water baptism is a symbolic burying of your old life and resurrection with Jesus in your new life. Baptism is suppose to be a believers first show of obedience to God.
Spiritual Baptism is an extra infilling of the Holy Spirit, separate and apart from the one you receive during Salvation. It is an empowering for service to God.

Are you embarrassed to spell out that you're dad is a Jew? Then obviously he didn't raise you with the pride of his people. Which in that case if he says no, what are his grounds? Still, he is right! You want to give up a religion that has lived throught close to 6,000 years of torture, expulsion, harassment and carnage? And yet still stand strong in the face of it's many enemies? Think hard. I probably gave you more questions than answers but I think this is more what you need now. Good luck!

There are two babtisms referred to in Holy Scriptures.
John the Babtist, cousin and forerunner of Jesus Christ who recieved the Holy Ghost in his mother's womb when his mother Elisabeth met with her cousin Mary, Jesus mother, when Jesus was yet in her womb. When John the Baptist babtized Jesus in water, the Holy Spirit bore witness and came down upon Jesus. Jesus said to His disciples to tarry at Jerusalem until they were indued with power (the Holy Ghost) from on high so they didn't automatically have that by simply believing that Jesus was the Son of God.
In Acts 1:5, was spoken to saved disciples also right before Jesus ascended back into heaven, " For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence."
So, no, water babtism is a symbol of being buried with Christ, the old carnal sinful nature of mortal man brought under subjection to and crucified with Christ as we have been born again of the spirit and so babtism neither saves you nor gives you the separate spiritual experience of the Holy Ghost in your life. That gives one boldness, power, and wisdom to be a witness and even to die for Christ's sake. Definitely, it helps folks grow in the faith and makes them completely changed powerhouses for God even more so than the wonderful experience of salvation. Many doctrines confuse the presence of Christ in one's heart with the actual in-dwelling of the Holy Ghost. Salvation justifies, sanctification further cleanses any corners of the heart that need to be dealt with, and the Holy Ghost will then dwell in a vessel and will not leave unless offended. The Holy Ghost cannot dwell in an unclean temple (person). All spiritual gifts from the Father are for the edifying of the church and all come through the blood of Jesus and the Father.

It is supposed to be full body immersion, signifying a public confession to Christ and cleaning your sins.

Baptised in the holy spirit is having the holy spirit dwell in you as you say.

Jews would disagree because they dont believe in Jesus or the Holy SPirit. But deep down I am sure they can see the holy spirit on you if you have it...just wont admit he is wrong.

Baptism is saying out loud to the world that you are a Christian. And yes, the Holy Spirit does reside in you after you accept Christ.

"You are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if the Spirit of God is in you"

Baptism is a symbolic ordinance of birth, death, and the resurrection of Christ, taking on His name and covenanting with Him that you will obey all His commandments, living as righteous as possible.

But baptism is for naught if not done by the officiating hand of priesthood authority, that same priesthood that Jesus Christ had been ordained to before the foundations of the world.

To be Baptized is showing all that the Lord has washed away your sins. It is recommended but not necessary. If you accept Jesus as your Savior and confess your sins, God will fill you with His Holy Spirit.
