Put hay , straw, or cedar bedding in your dogs house. this will keep him warm. He can burrow in that which is probably why he shreds his blankets. you can also get a dog house that has the doggy door one it which will help him keep his heat in it. good luck i hope this helps.

To begin with Doberman Pinschers are cold natured. They do not have long or a thick coat of hair!!!!! If you're as sad as you say you are why do you have the dog outside in the first place. Blankets hold moisture and they get cold or freeze. You're not helping the dog!!!!! If the dog has to be outside I hope he has an adequate dog house and you need to provide him with STRAW.... not blankets!!!! I don't know how you can crawl under your own blankets to be warm hearing your dog crying, freezing and being miserable!!!!!!! My dogs are inside dogs, but I had a neighbor that didn't give a sh!t about her dogs that I provided straw for. I guess if you lived near me I would do the same thing for your poor dog!! If you wanted an outside dog why didn't you get one with a full, thick coat of hair????? I don't understand WHY people get dogs to tie up in the back yard?? Is it to say...... " I have a Doberman Pinscher!!!" ? Find the dog a better loving home if what you're providing for him is the best you can do. The dog doesn't deserve a life like that!!!!!!!!!!!

Where do you live? I mean whats the weather ? IE are in the north or south, east or west ? What kind of temperatures does the animal have to contend with ? Is it very hot in the day and/ or extremely cold at night? Lots of questions here we need to know. Why isn't the dog inside ? Is it house broke ? etc etc etc etc I have a Dobbie now ( and have had others in the past along with other breeds ) and my dog is an inside / outside dog . When I' m gone ( work . shopping , visiting etc) my dog is outside in the yard ( it's fenced ) . Sometime the dog goes with me ( she loves rides and thinks it-is her truck anyway ) and she stays in the vehicle ( I have a shell on the back and the window is open between the cab and shell) . I never take her on days that are to hot and that I may have to leave her inside it for extended periods without me an the A/C and or windows down.
My dog loves running around in her yard but I bring her in at nights ( especially cold night ) . During summer she may stay out all night , it varies from time to time , rain , etc. I have automatic watering bowl outside and a dog house filled with cedar chips. These are easy to clean up and beats picking up all the left over blanket parts from the yard (yeah she loves to shred hers to and any towels I let her plat tug with after a bath ) .
You shouldn't leave your dog out on cold days/ nights . He's not a cold weather animal ( sheperd, huskie ,akita, etc ) and the cold can do real damage to him . Are you aware he may have or can come down with arthritus and other joint problems that can make it difficult for him to get around or impossible or even kill him in the cold weather ?
Take the blanket away and use chips or expect him to do what he wants with it . Yes you might be able to break him of shredding it but it's not going to be easy if he's an adult dog thats been doing this his whole life and NOW you try to say don't. What kind of dog house? I 've nailed and / or attached them to the flores and this has worked sometimes. When inside the house I've taught my dogs that they have a blanket or pillow to sleep on and that it is NOT OK to shred, chew or tear this up . They have other toys for that and maybe that would help you far the outside too. Sow him it's ok to go to town to on his toys but not his blanketd ...

By a large cage or crate(indoor one) & put him in it @ night..This way he can be inside in the heat & not be tearing anything up when you are gone or sleeping. It might sound cruel to put him in it...BUT it's not..It's a lot better than making him stay outside! Make him a bed in the cage..He'll get used to it pretty quickly...Or if you have a garage..you could do what we did before..We put a doggy door on the end of the garage (end that was inside our fenced in yard) and sectioned part of the inside off so the dog couldn't run out everytime we came into the garage..We put the doghouse, food & water, straw, blankets & a heat lamp out there & the dogs loved it. Whatever you do..Get your dog out of the weather...

Bring him inside......he's freezing his buns off. He tears the blanket up because he's trying to make a "nest". If you really want to try to keep him warm....then get a bale of hay. Then take about 1/2 of the bale and spread it out in his dog house. That will help him. I wish you would consider bringing him inside though. It's cruel to have an animal literally freezing outside like that.

Doberman Pinchers are inside dogs in the winter. Some dogs can stand it outside in the winter but that breed is not one of them that does well in the cold. Bring him inside, at least at night and on cold days. If you can't bring him inside, maybe you should have gotten a different breed, or maybe not one at all. Poor dog . . .

People who cannot provide proper shelter for their pets should NOT have pets; they do the animal a DISSERVICE. It's called CRUELTY.
Here's a thought, why don't you sleep out there on one of those nights when it's cold. Let the dog pick the night, you'll know by the cries of the animal which night to choose. Choose the night when he's screaming, crying and begging for mercy the loudest; dogs, cats and many other pets are MAMMALS which means they are (endothermic) WARM-blooded and feel the TEMPERATURE DROP just like you do.

BRING HIM IN! It's as simple as that. There are laws against keeping animals out in the cold weather. It's cruel! To make the doghouse warmer, add a flap to the front and insulate the doghouse. Adding a windbreaker wall will help as well. But if the temps are so low that he's whining, that is pathetic. He should come in!

You can get a heater for his dog house. But I do not understand why people get dogs and just leave them in the yard. Dogs are social pack animals and don't like to be alone. You should just let him in.
In some city's they would take you dog away and cite you for cruelty, leaving him out in the cold.

He is an extremely short-haired dog, of course he is freezing. If it is cold enough that he is crying, then it is inhumane to make him stay out in the cold. If I were your neighbor, I would have reported you for animal cruelty a long time ago.
