You should also contact all 3 credit bureaus and have a note put on them, saying no new credit is to be opened without a verbal verification from you. So if someone tries to open credit the creditor will have to contact you to verify that it is you.

FEFE is right along with everyone else about contacting the SS office. protect your credit and get a new card. the following site has what it takes to get a new card

www.ssa.gov
and apply for a new social security card. and tell them your old one is last.you can do the application via internet.
