All I did for my bird is I got a stand up ladder that can sit on the floor for $6 at Meijers. Then I attached some toys to it that I already had for my bird. Then I just lay other toys around it that are not in my birds cage. Then I switch them every once in a while with the ones in his cage and he thinks he has new toys all the time. All you have to do is find something bird friendly that you have around the house to put under the toys so the poop does not get on the floor. I use paper which is also a toy for my bird too because he like to chew on it.

you can get a Rubbermaid storage container (like to go under your bed) and put toys in the bottom and hanging on the sides. Parakeets like to play on the floor and this will keep he/she safe away from feet and out of trouble. If the wings are not clipped he will not stay in the "playpen".

parakeets are not that particular, just buy them some toys at like walmart, get them a swing, a ladder and some bright plastic hanging toys that will entertain them enough, should cost you around 5 or 6 dollars. I hope this helps! Claire

You can eaisly get some wood and kind of construct your own thing or break a couple long branches from a dead tree or something and tie them with zip ties or string all around the cage. It makes a good sitting place and a little walking thing. (ladder maybe!)

Birds really don't need playpens. It keeps them active and occupied. I have one I can give you. Let me know. Have a great year. My bird didn't really enjoy his playground.

Well you can read a manual and get some wood and nails and stuff like that and build a house.

take 2 leather straps of equal length and tie them to a stick, tie the other ends to the top of the cage. pending on how elaborate you wanna be you can go to home depo and pick up a 3/4 inch doll rod and drill holes in each end. here is a cute little diagram

you can make it any length you want so long as the leather strands are of equal length. your bird will love it. its all natural and cheap to make. you can also take stick and with a mixture of lard or greese and birds seed and make a treat for him. shoot me an email for more info. i'm on all the time.
