and the hair grows back really fast....like within a day and it is coarse and black, is this normal?

Try shaving in cold water, that way your hair stands up from the goosebumbs and you get a better shave. Also try shaving with this gel called Bikini Zone. Then put a little baby oil on your legs for a smoother effect.

The coarse black hair is complete normal. The more you shave, the courser your hair will become.
Make sure that the blade isn't old. You should throw away the blade if it has been used at least 5 times. Old blades don't do a good job.
Also, when you're in the shower, wait about 5 minutes before you start shaving. It opens up your pores and you can get a closer shave. Always use shaving cream because you might get razor burn, and that hurts!
Of course a much better option is a waxing. If you're interested in that just make sure you read the instructions. Good luck to you!

Hair grows different for every person. I used to have to shave daily if I wanted to keep a smooth leg, and by the end of the day it was prickly.

Use a good lubricating shaving cream and change your razor blade at least once a week.

Because you shave, the hair does NOT grow any faster. This is determined by genetics.

Money could be an issue but you may consider waxing your legs or using a debilatory cream to remove the hair longer.

Shaving can leave the skin sort of bumpi and yes, the hair grows back fast.
Try to get you're legs waxed. At first you might have to repeat this procedure every 3-5 weeks, depends on you're growth pattern. After doing waxing for some time, you will loose about 60-80 % of the hair for good. Also, the new growt is not stubbly for it is now again a virgin hair, its soft. Once you're used to waxing, you will never go back to shaving for shaving also leaves many ingrown hairs and this gives again bumpi skin.

Shaving is the worst way to get rid of hair. Use hot wax for a smooth finish and it stays that way for at least 5 days

This happens to me too. I couldn't use Nair either because I have sensitive skin and it made my legs break out in red bumps....

When I ran out of shaving cream (my legs were like that when I was using the shaving cream) I started to use my body wash to shave my legs with. This helped me...my legs are a lot smoother now and the hair doesn't grow back as quickly.

genetics i guess, you could try waxing. its more painful but eventually after a few years the hairs will thin out and waxing lasts up to 6 weeks.

you could try waxing. It hurts at first but you get used to it and added bonus no shaving daily.
