My dad cut this recipe out of the Austin American-Statesman several years ago. It was the recipe for the prize-winning chili in a chili contest. I don't know what contest, but I think I could find out, as I think I remember seeing the original clipping on his refrigerator the last time I was there to visit.
Grand Prize Chili

-------- ------------ --------------------------------
2 pounds ground chuck -- browned and drained
16 ounces tomato sauce
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon paprika
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
2 tablespoons beef bouillon granules
1 tablespoon chicken bouillon granules
1 tablespoon cumin
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon black pepper
4 tablespoons chili powder
salt -- to taste
8 tablespoons masa harina -- mix with water to make thin paste

This recipe is delicious! Try it out!
First take a big pot and fill it with a quarter of water. Set it on a stove to full boil. Once boiling, take 3 cups of salsa (your choice of flavor) and dump it into the pot. Set the stove to medium. Add chopped celery and some sliced or diced tomatoes. Next, stir until into a mushy substance. Next add chopped onions. Stir. Add 1/2 cup of salsa once more and stir. Stir and set stove onto High and stir until chili starts to bubble. Turn off stove and set chili for 5-10 minutes to cool. Once cooled, pour into 3-5 containers. Serves 3-5 people. Enjoy!

2 pounds ground beef
1/4 cup chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice

Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and cook, stirring frequently, until tender, about 6 minutes.
Add beef, in batches if necessary, and cook, breaking up with a wooden spoon, until browned.
Add chili powder, cinnamon, cumin, allspice, cloves, bay leaf, chocolate, beef broth, tomato sauce, cider vinegar, and red pepper. Stir to mix well. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
It is the best if you now refrigerate overnight.
Remove the bay leaf. Reheat gently over medium heat. Serve over hot, drained spaghetti. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
