Unless a child is in some sort of obvious danger--parents should give them their space. They need to feel that they have a place, and things, of their own. They also need to feel that their parents trust them.
Of course if the child is acting strangely, parents may need to find out what's going on--and be sure that no harm is coming to them.

I never understood the whole snooping thing. Alot of people dont need to because they have a open relationship with their children. No offence but if you dont have a open relationship and the kids want to hide something, they will find a way to hide things, so snooping may not always work.

The only time I agree to snooping through your childs room is if you feel they are into some bad things. Snooping will break the trust between you and your child and they will not trust you enough to talk to you.

Nope never did snoop, never had the need to. My mother would snoop, She even ripped the back off of my locked diary to find out what I had written in it...the entire thing was nothing but blank pages.

no If i thought something was wrong I would be candid with my daughters. I am different as a parent my parents were very bad I practically took care of myself. I will when the time comes put my children on Birth control and If they want to experiment with any thing I want them to feel free to discuss that does not mean it is okay but they should feel like they trust me as well as I trusting them I am the role model and will determine what kind of adult they will be. Who wants and insecure, untrusting partner?

I have a feeling my mum went through my room. That is why I hid my things really well! Trust me parents: things you want to hide are often in the most obvious places (behind books, taped under furniture, hung off hangers under a shirt or dress, etc)...

Yes, I do. I'm liable for anything in this house from a legal standpoint. Also, my son (he's 17) knows he has no right to privacy and no 4th Amendment protection in this house as long as I'm footing the bills.
I've gone though the closets, drawers, everywhere I can think of and have never found any incriminating 'evidence'. Once I found a pill in the floor, so i took it to work and did a search and looked it up on-line--it was his acne medicine!!!! LMAO!!!!

Yes, I do, with no apologies. My daughter said that she felt like she wanted to kill me, and I want to make sure that she doesn't have anything sharp in her room!!
