Although some people seem to think it is a nut, the consensus is its a fruit. A subject too deep for me:)

Yes, the fruit of the coco palm, Cocos nucifera, having a fibrous husk surrounding a large seed.

Yes, in a normal diet.

But actually they are a seed of a coconut tree, and therefore very high in fat. In modified diets where one is counting callories and fat, coconut would count as a fat serving.

even though they dont have seeds, coconuts are still considered fruits... they also grow on trees/bushes so thats another way they are considered fruits...
