If the US leaves Iraq without a clear victory, then al-Sadr and Osama bin Laden will declare victory, brag about defeating "the great satan," and will enlist lots of other young radical Islamists to try for other victories in other areas, to include within the United States. Only a clearcut victory in Iraq and the establishment of a tolerant democracy will strike a blow against terror. Anything else is a surrender and an encouragement for future radical Islam.
Saddam was found guilty by Iraqis in a court duly constituted under the existing Iraqi government. As such, it was entirely fair by existing local standards. As far as my own opinion, they could have skinned him alive and it would not have been adequate punishment for the horrible atrocities he committed against the Iraqi people.
I don't think there will be any future Iraq vs. USA - we will be friends, if the US Congress and liberal media will only be patient and allow a complete US victory against terror there. The future of Iraq can be modeled after the future of Germany and Japan, if we are allowed to complete the mission. Or it will be another Cambodia and Vietnam, if the liberals get their way.

No, I agree that the war must be finished, but not necessarily with a US victory, that can be 5 - 10 years from know with the corresponding casualties.
Sadam Hanging was an example of cold revenge, not fair justice. Never mind that the guy was a butcher, the whole execution process was badly managed.
The US needs to rethink their whole strategy toward Iraq, it went to war with the pretext of eliminating terrorist and it has created thousands more... zero sum game.

hmmmm... lets see the shites and sunnis will still be killing each other and at any even more rapid pace then they are right now... you know that country from Iran as well as their friends from Syria... yea they will try and take over Iraq. Then you will have the many different factions of terrorist groups trying to take over the country nd they will easily succeed at doing that, leaving a far worser man than Saddam Hussein was in power. The United States will be looked upon as cowards and the Iraqis that support us now will began to have a hatred toward us for abandoning them when they needed us most. Iran will continue on their nuclear weapons as well as North Korea and these countries will use them against us and will also sell them to the terrorists who wouldnt hesitate to use them on us. You can say goodbye to Israel in the process.... o and Turkey and Saudi Arabia will occupy Iraq if we leave and there will be a war between them and Iran and Syria. This all sounds like a great plan so lets pack up all of out troops and ring them home and lets destablize the whole region and watch millions die over there and many terrorist attacks on our home soil... sounds like a great plan huh?

There will never be victory in Iraq for the US military because they need about 300,000 US troops to win it. However, the Iraqi Shittes/Iraqi National Army could easily defeat the insurgents/terrorists because they outnumber them by 5 to 1 and unlike the US military they know what they look like. But if Bush let's the Shiites win the war he will look like a fool & it won't make the US military look good either.

Yes it must get finished. If we back down, we'll be viewed as pansies in the world's eyes, diminishing their view of the U.S. We are the best civilization to ever be, after all.
