Will a pet dog attack a pet turtle? How can one prevent this - how can one socialize them?

It just depends on the dog. Some breeds are more likely to harrass a turtle. However, a turtle has the best defense in the world, it's shell.

You don't want a turtle that spends it's time hiding in it's shell though do you?

certain notwithstanding the question is do the cats like the turtles identity say they wont care about the turtle curosity will be there before each and every thing and perchance a smack or 2 on the turtle yet after time they are going to care a lot less yet dont carry me to that

Turtles also can carry diseases that you wouldn't want to give to your dog, so it's best to keep them separate. I keep my turtles away from the dog.

You can't. Dogs will chew up turtles' shells! They do not get along and it would be animal abuse to leave a turtle unattended with a dog!

you won't have to prevent it the turtle will because he has the hard shell, also I have seen some pretty strange animal relationships on Animal Miracles on Animal Planet who knows mayby your dog and turtle will be one of them=)) =))

Dogs will eat turtles, Ive seen it happen at least 5 times.
