They worry because there are some factions of Christianity who have decided to take their beliefs into the political arena and want to drive some of their religious beliefs and try to make them public policy, if Christian fundamentalists had their way the bible would be the rule of law in the nation.
For this reason, atheists, who do not wish to live their lives based around going to heaven or hell or believing Christ is their savior worry about Christianity and it's move towards legislating religion.

Atheists who are focused on a particular religion are usually former members of that religion. Also, they may have just recently discovered that they were spending their lives in the "other closet" and feel embarrassed and betrayed.
Embarrassment and betrayal causes many people to be angry. These individuals are, perhaps, lashing out at those who they blame for their uncomfortable feelings. Also, they are coming out and exercising the intellectual capacity that led them out of that other closet.
After a time, the maturation of atheistic living will inspire them to meet more important challenges. Their feelings will have simmered down and they will begin to ask "softer" questions as they reach back into that closet to help alleviate the suffering of those caught between faith and uncertainty.
That being said, the track record of each of the living religions is rather bloody and violent. This may cause some to harbor fear, and rightly so. Fear is another factor in the expression of anger. In this time atheists are free to speak their minds, but history shows that this may be a temporary situation.
So, individual atheists may feel a great need go on the offensive, to prosyletize. Who better to convert than those who have been converted?

That's the best question I've heard all day. People spend too much energy scrutinizing everyone else instead of working on themselves.
This goes in BOTH directions. It's not just non-believers obsessed about Christians but vice-verse as well.
We've really gotten to be control freaks.

Not all atheists worry about Christians,
I do not believe in god but I could care less what a Christian believes in.

If you expect a coherent answer from an atheist you are in for a long wait.
Someone said ... Christians shove their beliefs into our laws...
The last time I checked abortion was legal in most US states.
About gay marriages now that does turn one's stomach.

Dude, why do black people worry about white people? When you are the minority you have to pay attention to the majority, and how their decisions will affect you.
They want their voices to be heard right along with all the others, that's all.

I've always chuckled at the fact that the "freedom from religion" types don't want anything to do with "freedom of religion".
So free choice is groovy, but only up to a certain point. Only if you agree with them.

Sigh, do you know why I find this question funny, I really haven't seen many hateful atheist posts all day, but this is about the 50th or so almost identical post. You need to wake up.

I don't worry about Christians. It bugs me that they are a drag on society.
