I'm Hispanic Catholic. I come from a Hispanic family that has alwas been Catholic, all of them use birth control. My aunt is divorced and she only has one child. My parents made sure to only have the children they could support as many other Catholics that I know did the same. Many Hispanics particularly, Mexicans, have a lot of children but that is because the men believe that if a woman uses birth control she is a whore. That if a man uses a condom then he is less of a man. This has nothing to do with religion but male chauvinism and female submission. The myth of Mexicans having large families because they're Catholics is a lie and it seems only us Hispanics know it. The Catholic Church forbids birth control but nobody listens to them. My family is example of that and they have used condoms. Why don't you learn a bit more about Hispanics instead of guiding yourself by what you see? In my Hispanic neighborhood, the largest family is a family of 4! Many are divorced or single, they have one child. Many of my Catholic friends use birth control to prevent having children and they're Hispanic. Learn a bit more.

Several people have defended Catholics by saying they don't agree with the Church, I'm not in that group. I firmly believe that the Catholic Church and it's magisterium were given authority to teach through Christ to St. Paul. Not brainwashed, but obedient to God's teaching and to Hid decision in giving authority to a living Church on Earth.
On the issue of birth control, it's less catholics "guilting people" and more all other faith systems caving in. This issue just 75 years ago (meaning for 1000's of years it wasn't okay) was firmly understood as unacceptable.
Churches and faiths that are willing to bend their truth in areas that they feel will hurt attendance are bound to 2 things:
1. bending repetedly whenever they fear struggle (celibicy, ordination, homosexuality, birth control, and abortion)
2. hypocracy - bend a rule and now the moral system that you started with no longer applys. They so many denominations get caught looking foolish as different teachings don't agree.
People may not agree with true informed Catholicism, that's their choice, but it is consistent, and that isn't true for any of about a dozen other denominations or faiths I've ever studied.

I am not a Catholic, but I think that Catholics are not dumb or brainwashed because some of them don't use birth control, it is their choice and they are free to act as they wish. On the other hand if they try to make non-Catholics feel guilty for using birth control, then these Catholics are degrading their faith and should be ignored.

For a seventeen year old , that kind of rationality is exactly what your elders would predict from someone who is just barely beginning their young life....However, with age comes wisdom and later you'll see how silly your question was...You'll be asking
yourself the question we all eventually ask ourselves often...If I only knew then what I know now! The value of family regardless of religion or race is your legacy. No matter how small or large...From one who belongs to a large family to see all us gathered together, five generations at once and counting, nothing brings me more pride and joy.Being a seventeen single mother of one child. now a young grandmother of one and one on the way, I pray that the numbers will continue to grow.Out of all the gifts that come from this world, family and love are to only things that are eternal. That's right! You take them with you even after you leave this world.... Because in the end that is what you cherish the most!!!! So learn early so you can enjoy sooner....

sometimes u have to mix ur reality with ur beliefs. the hispanics who do that r obviously not aware of that. im catholic and know about the disapproval of condoms but i would go so far as to call everyone in the religion ignorant. if so i could say the same thing about mormons but its disrespectful.

That is not the worst thing they do. They confess their sins to a man that dresses like a mother and call himself father. Matthew 23: 9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. They teach doctrines of devils. 1 Timothy 4: 1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 1 Timothy 4: 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 1 Timothy 4: 3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

So how much education do you have? It could be that most Catholic priests have far more education than you do. I do not believe the same thing as Catholics. I believe they have a twisted version of Christianity, as they believe I have a twisted version of Christianity. But to accuse them of ignorance just because you disagree with them, might lead someone to think that you were ignorant - heaven forbid!

Ignorance is not only a lack of knowledge but a dangerous condition of being "UNWILLING TO LEARN"
That is where they went wrong, and soon enough, because of it, they will cease to exist, and bother you no longer.
Me, I just refuse to associate with ignorant people because it makes me want to seriously hurt them(baseball bat, hit and run, whatever)!!
