I think that Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld and the rest of the administration should be tried for war crimes. This war has been proven unnecessary and those who rushed us to war should be held accountable.

One big problem with what's going on over there is that there is usually no way to tell a civilian from a combatant.

Folks are a big deal about the US's supposed violations of the Geneva convention at Guantanamo. But if you read the Geneva convention, a requirement for it's protection is that you be a UNIFORMED combatant. A uniform is a clear precondition for any of the Geneva protections.

So how many of the terrorist forces in Iraq wear uniforms?

You're 65,000 count includes how many terrorists that were wearing civilian clothes? Thousands and thousands of them. Only in the first few months of the war did any Iraqis wear a military uniform. Every Iraqi bad guy, terrorist, killer who has died since then has been a "civilian."

And the rest are victims of sectarian violence between Iraqis, and have nothing to do with the US forces. The Shia hate the Sunnis, and both hate the Kurds. That existed long before the US was there.

What the US is trying to do is to establish an Iraqi government and Iraqi security forces that will prevent Iraqis from killing each other over religious differences. So tell me again why that is a bad thing. Or do you want the US military to leave, so it's easier for Iraqis to kill each other?

Please stop listening to the mainstream liberal media, which has no incentive to report these truths about Iraq. They just want you to hate Bush, because he's a conservative republican - even though he's doing great things for both the Iraqis and for US national security.

Let's face it, had the Iraqi people all cooperated with the new government, and just let the US do it's job against the insurgents, chances are those would be 65,000 insurgent deaths.

Instead, so many of them, particularly Sunni tribesmen, choose to conspire against the US efforts and the new goverment. Thet opted out of cooperation with the new government simply because of majority (Shiite) rule. Worse, they aided the insurgency whenever they could.

I believe this illustrates the need to separate church and state!

The large number of dead Iraqis are being killed by Arabs, not by us. They are killing each other. If the local population woud stop being so cowardly, they could stop the slaughter.
People are scared that they are going to get retaltiation against them and their families if they report the suspicious activities in the neighborhood.
The locals are the only ones who can stop this. as long as they dont report suspicious activity, the insurgents will have a free hand.

I asked that question about how many civilians have been killed on the military place here to ask questions,ALL of the responses said, basically who cares?I do.Its More then that number. its about half a million dead Iraqis, May God have mercy on us all.God what a shame, I pray for those people.about thirty thousand have been killed just last year alone. Its horrible.Wonder how many of those people will blame us for this killing. How many will want revenge, I would GET revenge if someone bombed my family and killed them, I do believe. But I might forgive, I dont know really.

We should have sealed the borders along time ago so Iran and Syria couldn't export "insurgents" and supply weapons to those who had been there.

That is 65,000 less that we have to worry about. PEOPLE are this planet's only problem, so the fewer PEOPLE the better.

Much of the killings have been by what some folks call freedom fighters. They are killing each other! I say pull back to the boarders and let them kill each other.
