what does the bible say that helps us to understand what the soul is?
Gen.2:7 Jehovah God proceeded to form the man out of dust from the ground and to blow into his nostrils the breath of life and the man came to be a living soul (notice that this does not say that man was given a soul but that he became a soul a living person)

1 Cor.15:45 It is even so written the first man Adam became a living soul the last Adam became a life-giving spirit

1 pet. 3:20 "in Noah's days...a few people that is eight souls were carried safely through the water
Gen.9:5 besides that your blood of your souls shall I ask back.(hear the soul is said to have blood)
Josh.11:11 they went striking every soul that was in it with the edge of the sword ( the soul is here shown to be something that can be touched by the sword so these souls could not have been spirits.)

Ezek.18:4 Look all the souls--to me they belong as the soul of the father so likewise the soul of the son--to me they belong. The soul that is sinning--it itself will die

The soul is the "life" energy (debatable topic) that controls the "consciousness" (that which separates us from animals) which then controls the body. The point being that the body is perishable however, the soul, being an energy and therefore subject to the laws of nature, is not perishable. So as the body dies, the soul changes form.
P.S angels are a concept and have absolutely no basis on rational thought just like the majority of religious doctrine.

The soul exist in the body. The body is made of atoms & cells, the soul is made of sub-atomic enery. The body ages and dies but the soul journeys from place to place and its lifespan can't be calculated in our limited physical brains.

We can be angels and we can be devils.

The soul is a "unit of awareness". The body is physical and will cease to exist some day. The soul is eternal and never ceases to exist.

No because to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Your soul is inside of your body. When He calls all His children home then our bodies will come up to us. They will be perfect, and flaws. We cannot be like angels with wings. We are Saints, and we will worship the Lord for all eternity. No more pain, sorrow, sickness, tears, and no more death.

No it is not. We are Spirit beings traped in a soul that posses a body. The body and soul work hand and hand at time because they are both working off emotions.but they are not the same.

I believe the soul is the breath of God. For the soul can not live without the presence of God. The flesh can not live without the soul. Only humans have a soul. A Gift from God

your answers are sooo WRONG. you miss the whole point. the soul is NOT the body; it's housed within the body. the soul can go wherever it's sent or decides to go...when the body dies...it's DEAD. There's no "transformation." The souls just leaves the body.
