1. People respect someone who works hard and makes a lot of money.

2. If you don't listen to good advice and you go ahead and do something that isn't prudent, then the consequences could really scare you. If that happens, you've learned your lesson well. So the good advice didn't help you because you didn't take it, but the scare taught you well.
