Anybody have suggestions so I don't gag ?

Make sure the palate is cut back as far as possible......the further it goes to the back (soft palate) it will gag you. He can adjust this in the office until it works for you.

It won't go back that far. When he says covers the palate, he means that it will fit up there along the roof of your mouth. It's very thin and small. You will hardly know you have it on. Calm down and quit freakin, you'll be so surprised tomorrow and be kicking yourself for being this worried! Oh yeah, Congrats on getting them off!

If you mean you afraid of gagging when he puts the retainer in just breathe through your nose and not through your mouth. Works all the time when I have to take xrays or impressions on people who are gaggers.

It's covering your pallet, not being shoved down your throat darlin'
You'll survive your retainer just like the rest of us did!
Just make sure you wear it, or all that money spent and all the time you had to wear the braces was a total waste.
