Your local volunteer center should be able to assist you in finding some short-term or several one-time opportunities. Volunteer centers specialize in connecting people with community service opportunities that match your interests. In most cases, they can also provide the appropriate documentation you will need for service hours for whatever reason, (school requirement, court ordered, etc.)

You can find your volunteer center through the following links:

Good luck!

Not to be rude, but shouldnt your husband be researching this himself? You are very kind.... Anyway, my suggestion to you would be volunteering at a nursing home. Of course you need to send in an application, nursing homes want caring people who are held accountable. However, you can get alot of hours done in a week and a half, maybe less if you have more time. Working at a nurses home will also look good in my opinion. the idea that you are helping the elderly is really good, and theres you wont be bored. Sometimes you just talk to the eldery, prepare food, or play bingo or do movie days with them. :)

Get in touch with your local food bank. Also see if there are any upcoming events (like a charity walk or something like that) and find out if they need volunteers. If you are religious, or if you approve of organized religion, you might also try churches or other religious institutions...sometimes they have garage sales or bake sales, or even just volunteers at regular services.

The first thing to do is to go back to court and get an extension. Then, the next thing to do is to contact a local community service venue or use the one the court recommends and contact them. After that, you schedule yourself and make sure you dont screw it up.

Senior Center. They always need people. I worked in the kitchen and helped make breakfast and lunches and did dishes and cleaned (not cause I wanted to) but I did get free lunch when I worked which is a plus and the people I worked with were cool.

check your local hospital, maybe the sherriff's department, try your local park, check any place that has volunteers. also check your street and sanitation department , maybe a local community college, check the high school(maybe you work during ballgames)

I have never had to do community service but i always thought one would be informed of where and when to perform the service

Go to your local United Way office, Salvation Army, Union Mission or the American Red Cross, or any other charity. Speak to the Executive Director and ask if they would sign off on any work you could do for them.

Try a homelss shelter, perhaps the Salvation Army can help you find one, or ask a church. You are lucky because 20 hours is nothing.

Check in with your local community needs - the food bank, soup kitchens, and churches. It's always great to help others in need.
