because sin is fun. the brain releases chemicals during certain activities that we interpret as "happiness" and "having fun". those chemicals produce somewhat addictive responses. the brain starts to associate the activity with the chemical with the feeling, so if you remove the activity (stimuli) from your life, you really are missing the response, even though it appears you are missing the stimuli.
