Last night, after one of the football games, several coaches and players shouted over the PA system and on national TV that the game showed the Glory of God.

I posted a question in the football section of Answers asking if that was right and was told to keep my crazy stuff in the religion section.

I think that is appropriate. But I also think that crying out about the Glory of God belongs in a religious setting, like a church, and not in a football stadium.

What do you think?

As I said earlier today in another question. Just once I would like to see a losing coach rail against god and blame him for the loss. I mean, why not?

I don't think it's a matter of does God care about a football game, because he probably doesn't. I'm sure the saints team had a lot of prayers after what happened with Katrina and everything, and they aren't going to the superbowl, but why not thank the Lord when you get such an opportunity. I mean I thank God when I do well on a test, but does that mean that God made me do well on a test? no, I believe in the Bible it says "God does not show favoritism", and therefore, he doesn't.

I saw the Indianapolis coach thank God for their victory over New England yesterday. Why would God care about a football game? Don't you think the New England players prayed, too? Its so absurd. Extend it a little bit. Don't all armies pray before going in to battle? "Oh God please don't let me get hurt, please take care of my family if I die..." In English, Arabic, German, Japanese, Russian, on and on and on, everybody's pleading for God's special grace. Maybe Hitler prayed before invading Poland. We know President Bush prayed before invading Iraq. And that has worked out very well, hasn't it.

Why not show the glory of god? Are in any position to dispute it? I think not.
