I have had stretch marks on my backside for about 2 years now, and I am only 18. I have not grown since 9th grade. I have not lost/gained weight either. What caused my stretch marks, and are they any different from normal stretch marks? A doctor's advice would really be appreciated.

I am only 5'1", and I haven't grown for a few years, so I know I didn't get them from growing too quickly. I have weighed 90-100 lbs. since before I got the stretch marks, so I didn't get them from rapid weight fluctuation either. And no, I am definitely not pregnant.

And when I said "backside," I was really referring to my buttocks.

I know I shouldn't be qualified to aswer this, but I've dated a lot of different girls ;) and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to stretch marks. Some girls get em, some don't. Doesn't matter if you're big or small. From my experience with girlfriends that have them, one tried drinking and rubbing coconut oil on them. I'm not sure if it worked but it smelled nice ;) Of course I didn't complain about them at all. I know you have no control over them and they never bothered me anyway.

Stretch Marks On Hips Teenager

I've got 'em too, I grew more than 6 inches in 1 year and as if that wasn't painful enough, I got stretch marks on my legs and hips. But it's not just girls who get them, I had a bf who had them as well from growing really fast. I tend to agree with the doc who posted, it's just that some people have more elasticity in their skin. My sister has had 3 children and not a stretch mark in sight, but she also moisturized like crazy so that might have something to do with it. Who would think they need to moisturize when they are 12??

Not anything you could have done and as far as I know, only lasers can take them off but if you moisturize they should be less visible. Shea butter works really well.

Not too many doctors post here (they traditionally get paid for advice)

You are calling them stretch marks but could it be a skin pigmantation issue? A good dermatologist should be consulted. Or research on a dertmatologist site (some may give advice?)

I have dark skin (do they call it olive?) and I had dark scar looking things on my tummy at your age. We did not show our tummies much back then :) Now this had no rough stretchy tissue like a true stretch mark... it was more of a dark line. A mixture of real lemon juice (or over the counter skin lightening stuff) will work to remove the dark pigmantation, but will do nothing for true stretch marks which tend to look more like wattermellon like lines with an actual difference in skin texture inside those lines. For those dark lines it takes a lot of applications but in a few weeks you should see a change.
If it is a texture issue seeing a dermitologist may be the only option but if it is color issue.. there are plenty of items on the market for that. You may even look on the make-up sites on the net for good skin lighteners.... (Please buy only well known brands at first until you see if that is your problem do not pay too much for something until you know if they have a return policy and have your parents do it)

I've had stretch marks on my legs and hips since 6th grade from when I grew really fast. I'm now in 8th grade and 5' 8" and they're still there. Cocoa butter helps 'smooth marks and tone skin' as it says on the front of the container, so I recommend that. It's also great for those purple under-eye circles (mine are REALLY bad-stupid genetics) and chapped lips.

Your stretch marks are probly from when u hit puberty and got the girly figure. Honestly, I don't think that it's anything to worry about. =~)

I have some stretch marks on my hips - I'm only 14 (nearly 15), defnitely not overwight, haven't really had a weight change lately... I haven't grown much lately either.

I don't know what to do about it... I'll watch this question, though.

I'm not a DR but had stretch marks by the time I got to 16 as I went from super skinny to having a figure. They are not so visible now and I think vitamin E and a good diet helps.

Stretch marks are formed when a person suddenly gains weight as the skin stretches quickly. Scars may be formed due to pimples, boils or injuries. They gradually fade away after some time or as the person loses weight. You can find more cheap and natural remedies for stretch marks at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/stretchmarks...
